Seminar of Anti Drug Addiction
The drug addiction of teenager in Hong Kong is serious gradually today. It is so wonderful that we invited Pastor Charles Israel Chan who are special in serving drug abstinence through the Gospel to tell the teenager in ELTY group about the problems of drug addictions. The attendants understand deeply why the teenager use drugs and the consequence of drug addiction through the experience sharing from Pastor Chan. We all prayed that what we learnt that day would be useful for ELTY group members in their school life and share what they learnt to their friends.

Annual Presentation 2014




Presentation of the Ministry progress was held at Harmony Baptist Church. That was a deep sharing of the progress on various services through several directions during last three years. Moreover, we introduced our new projects and the Youth Library establishing. In the interaction section, attendants divided by 7 prayer intercessor groups to praise and pray together. The ministry leaflets had been sent to attendants before ending the presentation.

Youth Presentation (Leaflet of English Language Training for the Youth)


For encouraging young people to have a close relationship with church members, ELTY representatives sent out the prayer request and invited church members to pray for them during their presentation. Youth MC announced in English and Hong Kong Sign Language about their first leaflet will be ready at the end of this summer. After announcement, youth MC expressed their gratitude to two special guests and sent the tailor-make thank you cards to them. The youth presentation was ending in Reverend C. Hartwick sent the group a memory card after a song which expressed in English and Hong Kong Sign Language.

Christmas Party 2013




For celebrating the joy and blessing of Christmas, the party was held on a fun and smiling Saturday. After worship and video for introducing the meaning of Christmas, a bible Q & A game and two special competitions were started. Youth participants cleaned the flypans and cooked the party dishes by their own. We encourage youth to share their skill and love each other.

Youth Introduction (2nd ELTY)
Youth group introduction of the 2nd English Language Training for the Youth (ELTY) was held at Harmony Baptist Church. It was the first practical lesson for students to make an introduction at church as the same time joining the Sunday service. Students introduced themselves in both of English and Hong Kong Sign Language, also introduced their sign names. They enjoyed signing very much. Some of them are new immigrants that were their first time to attend church service.

Annual Presentation 2013




Deaf and Youth Asian Ministry entered the third year in this September. The annual presentation of the ministry was held at Harmony Baptist Church on 15th September 2013. During presentation, we provided an overall review of the ministry work during last 2 years, a staff life sharing to witness the ministry growth and reported the 3 main projects we worked out which including Growth Group which based on language training, Gift Blessings and School Visit. Presentation was ended with an introduction of the new growth group "The 2nd English Language Training for the Youth".

Youth Presentation






The first Youth Presentation of English Language Training for the Youth (ELTY) was held at Harmony Baptist Church during Sunday Service. Youth MC and representative introduced themselves by Hong Kong sign language before reporting their group learning and outreach. The presentation was end in a silent drama which mentioned about creation and resurrection. Some new migrant students and secondary students were invited to join the Sunday Service for encouraging them to experience English worship and to communicate with foreigners in English.

Christmas Party for the Youth








A Christimas party for introducing the meaning of Christmas to the youth was held on 22 Dec. A group of students from different secondary school and primary school were gathered together to enjoy the blessings. That was also a chance for participants to practice their English through games, video and songs during party. The happiness of students showed from their smiling faces!

Ministry Anniversary Testimony




Testimony was held at Harmony Baptist Church (HK). Representative stated those ministry events and outreach of civil activities during last one whole year, introduced development of youth programme and the new project of village school visit. Testimony was end with prayer request and prayer. There were about 50 persons attended the testimony.

Testimony of School Visit at Church
We are invited to share the school visit of Xin Long Primary School in Heyuan, Canton at Harmony Baptist Church in Jordan. We had a lot of special experience during the trip. Success is not without sand and stones. We experienced sand and stones in each travelling way there such as no tickets, almost missing schedule, cancel public service suddenly, no breakfast and lunch every day and so on but all the stories with a dramatically blessing in the end. Including the school we expected to visit was not there but another village school instead and they have a deaf pupil.

Ministry Presentation






The Ministry Presentation of Deaf and Youth Asian Ministry (Deafyasia) was held on 4th September 2011 at Harmony Baptist Church. There were a brief introduction of children education in Asian Countries and gospel development of deaf community in Hong Kong. Attendants reacted actively in the section of Hong Kong Sign Language interaction, especially the signs related to bible. There were about 70 brothers and sisters to attend the presentation including pastors from churches and Bible College, a teacher and sign interpreter, Asian brothers and sisters from Philippines, Indonesia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Hong Kong.

Northern Thai Mission Sharing




Nothern Thai Mission Sharing was held on 26 Jun. Ms Grace Kwok, the missionary of Association of Baptists for World Evangelism (ABWE), serves Thai people in the area where near Golden Triangle area already 4 years. She teaches Mandarin to local people in a country. Students are including children and adult to build the friendship and sending gospel to them. There are over 150 villages. Population in the place she serves is about 2800 persons (700 families) during a few years but without any church. The ministry will set up a boarding school including a learning centre and a student hostel next year for students from the rural area.

Prayer Marathon for East Asia Mission






The East Asia Mission Trip was held on 12-18 June 2011. Mission team was about 8 persons including a pastor and his wife. They preach and work with farmers, stayed with them in a farm in East Asia. Our ministry team was prayer intercessors for the mission to support each other in the spiritual battle field. We organized a prayer marathon for the trip. There were a few prayer sections from dawning to midnight each day. Intercessors take turn for prayer during the mission trip. Totally we have 18 Asian eager to participate the prayer marathon including Filipino, Indonesian and Hong Kong people. All of us are encouraged and build a spiritual bonding strongly through the prayer chain.

The First Time of A Teenager Attended Church




Tung, the first teenager we brought to church who started her church live already 3 months stably. One of her classmates called Wah to be invited for attending Sunday service in Harmony Baptist Church. That was the first time of Wah to attend English church service. She joined singing activities and enjoyed the service very much. The attending of Wah encouraged Tung very much and a happiness smile was hanging on Tung's face all day long! That is a good chance to build a group live to encourage and support each other with their age range through a growth group with other Asian youth.

Sharing with Dr. Jerry Layton


After attending a Talk of Creation Science which was held at Harmony Baptist Church, we shared with Dr. Jerry Layton, Institute for Creation Research. Dr. Layton works on - Creation Science Evangelism Program in Philippines. Teaching science and creation topics are new development in campus. He encouraged our team to work hard for this topic on biblical education for the youth. Our sharing was end with prayer and blessing.

Arranged 2 girls to Church on Sunday Service


Tung is a F.1 student and her younger sister Lam is studying in a primary school. Tung is shy for expressing herself and trouble on communication with her peers. We are providing free English tuition to her through her after school lesson during past 3 months and talked to her about Jesus. Recently we invited her and her sister to join the Sunday service in Harmony Baptist Church which under their parents consent. They enjoyed the time and bible study in their response and asked for keeping on to church.

Attending Seminar "The Process of Sign Language Interpretation"
The Seminar was held by The Centre for Sign Linguistics and Deaf Studies, CUHK. There were different ways for approaching sign interpretation to be introduced in the seminar. Meantime, specify the factors on the relation between deaf culture and interpretation. More than 100 participants both of deaf and hearing persons attended the seminar including interpreters who work in churches.

Study the Old Testament in a Sign Bible Class
Two of our co-workers attended a half year bible class for learning Old Testament which was held by Agape Love Deaf International. Participants included deaf people, hard of hearing and hearing people. Through the bible class, we learned scriptures by sign Chinese and explained the bible story by natural sign. It was a precious experience on bible training with the Deaf.

Attending Seminar regarding the Sign Interpretation
The seminar of Professional role and ethics of sign language interpreters was held by the Centre for Sign Linguistics and Deaf Studies, CUHK. There was an outline about best practice in role, ethics and preparation requirements for professional interpreters. We learned a lot during the seminar especially the concept about interpreter's main role and ethics.

Attending Sharing Talk of Seminar of Sign Language Translation on Bible
The seminar was held by The Agape Love Deaf International. Speakers were Court Translator Wendy Lai (from Hong Kong Polytech University), Mrs Mok (Bible Translator from Wyccliffe Bible Translators (Hong Kong)), and Dr Sze Yim Binh Felix (from The Centre for Sign Linguistics and Deaf Studies, CUHK.) There were an introduction on interpretation and sign language interpretation during the seminar. It is a good start to gather churches and Christian organization in Hong Kong for discussing future development on deaf ministries. There were about 60 visitors attending the seminar. It is full of meaning for us!

A lady with mask and thick jacket one and half year to be set free
A great day which full of grace and mercy from our almighty God! Leung, a sister in Christ is to be set free. Leung wore medical mask and a thick winter jacket one and half years, everyday and everywhere even though summer time. We kept on pray for her almost 7 months. During the period, we shared the words from bible and encouraged her through listening and caring. We accepted her weakness and explained to her through bible words either she punched a brother in Christ in a public area or very bad temper to face her serious mistake about church donation. From time to time, smiling shown on her face and she remember how kindness and helpful of her Heavenly Father in her youngster. The night of 28/7/2010 was full of meaning. She took away her medical mask and the thick jacket under her will since our overnight BBQ!

Internal training of Hong Kong Sign Language
The first internal training of HKSL had been completed in July 2010. Sign language is a must as for the basic communication skill between deaf and hearing people. We were blessed to meet many deaf friends in the practical lessons, outdoor activities and Sunday service at church during the training! The precious friendship and experience are fruitful. The intermediate practical training and the internal training of HKSL for the youth are coming soon.
